What to Expect
A treatment at Cloud Gate will consist of:
A thorough health evaluation with your practitioner
Your practitioner will ask many questions about your health history, including your present concern(s), your past medical conditions, your lifestyle, and every day occurrences such as your sleep, mood, and energy levels.
Your practitioner will also read your pulse through palpation of the artery located at your wrist and he or she will also ask to see your tongue. These two diagnostic methods are used in Chinese Medicine to provide a more complete picture of your health.
Your treatment
Cloud Gate strives to provide a safe and relaxing space for you to begin or continue your personal healing process. Through the information obtained during your health evaluation, your practitioner is able to create your personal treatment plan.
This plan may include one or a combination of the primary modalities that your practitioner deems most effective for you on that particular day. The primary therapies we use are acupuncture, Chinese Massage or tuina, moxibustion, and craniosacral therapy.
To maintain a safe and relaxing space for you and to facilitate your healing process, your practitioner will remain in the treatment room with you during your treatment time.
This allows for you to communicate with your practitioner and for your practitioner to monitor the treatment and make any adjustments if necessary.
Recommendations
After your treatment, your practitioner will go over any lifestyle, dietary, and/or qi gong exercise recommendations with you.
Chinese Herbal Prescriptions
If applicable, your practitioner will also prescribe an herbal formula that will enhance and prolong the effects of your treatment. Cloud Gate uses Classical Pearls capsules and Evergreen granules, a safe and effective form of administering herbs that is usually more palatable than the traditional teas.
Rest and relax!
Cloud Gate provides a post-treatment rest and relax space for their patients. If you’ve ever had an acupuncture or bodywork treatment, you know that sometimes you’re not ready to jump back in your car and proceed with the rest of your day.
Sometimes you would rather linger, sip some tea, be still and silent and let the treatment settle into your body. At Cloud Gate, you have that opportunity, and we encourage you to stay as long as you like.
